Shalom Parents,

With the summer quickly fading, we move on to a new school year.  We again join in partnership in the mutual endeavor of educating our children as Jews.

School opens Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 4:15 PM for children in Aleph-Vav (3-6).  Sunday school begins on Sunday September 13, 2009 at 9:30-11:30 AM.   Classes are two hours and the upper grades are departmentalized.

Rosh Hashanah begins Friday evening September 18 and continues Shabbat September 19 and Sunday September 20.   The Second Day will feature our Creative Service with special readings for the children. The Tashlich (tossing our sins into the river) Service will follow the service on the second day of Rosh Hashanah (Sunday 9/20).  The members of our famous "Shofar Brigade" will blow their respective Shofarot on RH Day 2, and at the end of Neilah, which is at the end of Yom Kippur on Monday September 28.

There will also be special holiday programs for Sukkot and Simchat Torah.    Watch for details!

We welcome back our returning staff, Lisa Sussman, Eliza Katz, Rachel Klein, Sarah Kamenetz, Jillian Bower and David Rosner. Marissa Rosner will continue as a teacher's assistant.   Deb Lopez will continue as BA Parents Association chair.

One exciting addition for this school year is that we will be doing some combined classes with Beth Hillel Synagogue of Bloomfield, to give our children a chance to interact with other Jewish kids.  We will also continue to participate in the small schools network for 3 events during the school year.

Enclosed you will find the schedules and calendar for the academic year. Students are expected to attend all classes and all monthly Saturday Family Shabbat Services. We are looking forward to an exciting year of learning and growing.  Please call me to discuss any concerns.

With Shalom and Blessings,

Rabbi Alan Lefkowitz
